PHOENIX
Too Young

Being one of those poor unfortunate (not) souls who was born before the era of the variable phenomina often entitled DOOF DOOF, I am often ridiculed for my tastes in music. Being a child of the 60's I was raised on an unhealthy burger & coke diet of Elvis, Neil Diamond, Floyd etc. This has often meant that my musical predeliction has been subject to extreme prejudice (I've had 3 copies of Hot August Night scratched beyond redemption & am prohibited from playing Boz Scaggs during working hours!).

NEVERTHELESS occasionally I do find something MODERN (sic) that turns my inner ear canal. One such group is Phoenix - dont ask me where they're from (France actually - ED), who they are, or what they have for breakfast, as I don't know (and don't really care). All I know is that they've pop'd (or re-pop'd?) onto the scene with a great little ditty (ditty is old speak for a good song kiddies!).

The title is called "Too Young" & it kicks along with some great electric gitar & keyboards providing an interesting rythem (aka Flaming Lips).

After sitting it in the office high-rotation slot for a few days even my co-conspiritors had to confess that it rocked! (a rare occurance to be sure) Mind you I only have the single (after scouring the racks i could find no LP - err LP is old speak for a plastic type circular disk that preceeded the CD and was renowned for its ability to collect dust & scratches which in the old days served to value & endear the object even further). Hopefully they will feed us something new sometime before I am banned from playing the same damn song over & over again (i just cant get enuf of a good track)

The single is produced by Ghettoblaster Publications which doesent mean a whole lot to me either really. So - if you feel jipped by this review then go out & buy the single - you will either love it or hate it - eitherway remember you HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

Muhahhahaha!

Love & Chiko Rolls!
