D-KO
Demo #2

The latest in a long line of Brisbands to grace the live electronica scene, D-Ko's approach is different to most. Rather than settling into a predictable 4/4 rhythm or sample-based cut and paste routine, D-Ko attempt to embrace the dance music genre and subvert it at the same time, often with startling results.

Opening track "The Key Of Madness" manages to distill the essence of their style into one track, fusing the bass-heavy beats of The Chemical Brothers, the intense riffery of Tool and free-form vocal acrobatics of Tori Amos into an arresting (if slightly intimidating) whole. Occasionally their "Wall of Sound" teeters on the fine line which seperates it from a "Wall of Noise". But when it works, particularly on the spiralling psychedelic doof monster "Silent Mobius", the results are extraordinary.

Though only a demo recording, D-Ko's "Demo #2" shows enough potential to suggest that with some work they can become a potent dancefloor cranking force. Catch one of their awesome live shows now before everyone else hears about them.
