- HELP END MARIJUANA PROHIBITION -

WHEN INJUSTICE BECOMES LAW- RESISTANCE BECOMES DUTY

Weekend Events......... Friday 28th April to May 1

Pot smokers converged this weekend on the small Northern New South Wales town of Nimbin to celebrate the harvest of their favourite herb. Nimbin, site of the Aquarian festival in 1973, has since been a mecca for alternative lifestylers.

A crowd estimated at around 5000 people filled the main street for the weekend. Everywhere you looked there were improptu jams, market stalls, cafes spilling onto already crowded streets, and the most incredable array of exotic folks. Music, Marijuana and Magic were everywhere.

Big Joint The pictures seen here are video grabs from the parade on Sunday.
This is the big joint that lead the parade, complete with smoke issuing from the end.

Parade4

This is looking north along Cullen St toward the park were the rally was held after the march. In the top left corner, you can see tha famous Rainbow Cafe, open again after a hiatus of over a year.

Cop The police were wisely absent throughout most of the weekend. They showed up at the end of the parade to clear the road for traffic. Otherwise they ignored the numerous breaches of drug laws. Joints, pipes, bongs, hookers, cookies, etc were everywhere. People were lighting up in the street.

Bob Bob Hopkins, an independant candidate for Ritchmond, and long time anti-prohibition activist, throws hundreds of joints into the crowd at the rally.
