This event, already a tradition in the International Community of
Bodyboard, is sponsored by the City of Sintra and is guaranteed until the
year 2001.

In 1997, it played an historical role by offering the largest "Prize Money"
a Bodyboard event had ever had. Also, it was the first ever "5 Star Women".
Also still, it was the first time a major international sports event was
run under the exact same conditions for men and women - an emblematic
decision signed by the Lady Mayor of Sintra, Dr. Edite Estrela, already a
very dear personality in the History of this young Sport. It went on by
having the honor (again a first ever) of the presence of a Head of State on
such a competition - Jorge Sampaio, the President of Portugal, even awarded
the winners, personally, on the Podium. Finally, on the closing ceremony of
the Circuit, in Hawaii, it was given the Trophy of "The Best Event of the
Tour".

So, here it is back again, in 1998, to gather the best Bodyboarders of the
Planet in one of the best beaches of Portugal (i.e. of Europe, i.e. of the
World) for the practice of this Sport. From August 26 to the 30th, Sintra
will be again the "World Capital of Bodyboard". At the Second World
Bodyboard Congress, on August 31, further and very significant news will be
revealed to even more strengthen this allegation.

With an Event of the European Tour of Bodyboard on the previous weekend (22
and 23) and the Congress on the last day of the month, at the "ValenÙas
Palace", Sintra and Praia Grande will indeed hit the news.

The Opening Ceremony will be at Hotel Arribas, with a Press Conference,
Party and Cocktail, on Tuesday 25, at 19:00 (7pm). EVERYBODY INVITED !...

Again this year, the Finals will be broadcast live over Television, by
3:30pm Sunday 30. The whole Event will meet a huge media coverage - not
only the specialized media, but over 200 hundred high circulation
newspapers and magazines, as well as TV and Radio Networks - national and
international - broadcast, cable and satellite.

Last year, we had 162 media organs physically present on location, with
over 200 professionals covering the event in person. TV specials of the
competition went on being broadcast for the whole year - with a one hour
compact still on the first week of this month over an international network
channel.

Competitors will come from such places as the USA, Brazil, South Africa,
Puerto Rico, Australia, Martinique, Japan, Spain, Guadelupe, Reunion,
Canary Islands, France, Cape Verde, Venezuela, UK, Portugal and Hawaii.
