AUSTRALIA'S FIGHT FOR
The Australian Government seems to be stuck in some kind of mutual back slapping stasis.
While they fly about the country having seminars & conferences in rainforest resorts,
addicts are dying on the streets because the society that they live in is neither educated enough
to understand that the dependence is a medical problem & can in fact be treated, or that
drug addiction should be embraced as a social side-effect rather than something to be
shoved under the carpet, or hidden in prisons & Hospitals.
This page will be used to chronicle the fight. I have articles from
the press, street and experts which I will
reprint here with a hope that
together we can lead the way in caring for our sick,
rather than
simply giving them a pill & sending them on their way. I will also have phone numbers an addresses
of health Ministers etc wherever possible.

10/11/98 - We have just received news that NONE of the proposed Naltrexone Rapid Detox trials have been aproved by the government - likewise the recent proposals for Legal Heroin programs was also knocked on the head! History has shown us again & again that treating addicts like criminals, instead of the medically aflicted can only result in greater alienation, more ilegal underground activity & ultimatly more deaths!
Even tho the drug is freely available here in Australia the medical profesion has turned a blind eye to its existance & the substantual studies & trials already completed which have helped addicts return to non addicted existances! You can read more about Ibogaine in the Treatments Section of this site, Also we have now started a mailing list for interested parties - so email to ibogaine_subscribe@xtreme.net to Subscribe!
